A Field Near Hallelujah Junction (Golden Hour) Plein Air Study

A field near Hallelujah Junction at so called golden hour.  A plein air study in oil on Masonite board.  6" x 17.5".  The window of opportunity (approximately one hour) to capture this fleeting sunset light was so short, planning and preparation prior to each session was crucial. (i.e. pre-mixing paints, getting there on time.)  I went back to the location several times to render just the right angle and amount of light spreading across the field.  A couple of concerned NHP officers (or were they CHP?) stopped by to see I was okay.  I got nervous that they might give me a ticket, but they both liked my work and let me resume what I was doing.

This is one of the studies for an upcoming figurative painting that I'm planning to do.

Currently, my latest Rough Rafu works (plus 3 older pieces) are listed for sale at eBay(http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p1468660.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xseidai&_nkw=seidai&_sacat=0&_from=R40).  They are auction listings, and no reserve prices are set.  The auction will end on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 8AM.  If interested, please check them out.  The starting price on these pieces are relatively low compared to prices on my other works, due to its simpler content, smaller dimensions, and the time spent on the piece.

Plein-air studies of Chimney Beach, north east shore of Lake Tahoe. (Pencil on paper, and oil on canvas panel.  9" x 12".)  The drawing was done first, then transferred onto a canvas panel.  I was just focusing on colors and values at the painting phase.  They were done this past summer.  We had a huge infestation of yellow jackets this year.  It was really hard to focus on my task, working along with them!
